We are now waiting for the referee report. The proposal on K- production at ANKE by Heinz Mueller et al. has been finished and sent to the PAC members. It will probably be discussed during the PAC meeting on April 16 and 17. You can find a copy on our server in the subdirectory '/pub/ikp2/anke/proposal/'. There is a new ANKE memo written by A.Kacharava et al. about the feasibility of the deuteron break-up experiment at ANKE. Counting rates and the influence of various background channels are investigated. You can find the memo under: '/pub/ikp2/anke/memos/sim_290296_1.ps'. L.v. Horn and M. Hartmann have compared the calculation times of a typical data-analysis application on a DEC-Alpha workstation and a PENTIUM-PC. It turned out that both types of computers have comparable speeds. Due to the substantially lower price of PCs we have decided to use them for the data analysis at ANKE. The computers will be bought when we need them. On our ftp server you can now find a new subdirectory called '/pub/ikp2/anke/transparencies'. It contains a few (coloured) ANKE related transparencies which you can use for talks and presentations. They should be printed out using a colour printer. The files are in (gziped) postscript format and also available as TGIF-object files. The University-of-Muenster members of the ANKE collaboration will build and operate at ANKE a cluster target of the COSY-11 type. The target is scheduled to be ready for operation at ANKE in the course of 1997. In June 1996 there will be the next meeting related to the cluster target here in Juelich. According to R. Koch the RAL 170 wafers, which are supposed to read out the Rossendorf and possibly also the Dubna MWPC's, were produced in February 96. Unfortunately we have to accept further unexpected delay. The company which got the order for packaging of the chips from Rutherford Lab., can deliver only at the beginning of April. After delivery some chips will be sent immediately to Rossendorf to H. Langenhagen who is ready to start the tests. The RAL 111 chips which accept the RAL 170 output for data reduction and delay are supposed to be delivered until April 30. The electronic board for the complete chamber read out is tested actually by ZEL at KFA. Provisionally the RAL 110 chips are used instead of the RAL 170 as input stage. Best regards, Markus Buescher
