During the last weeks intensive work was performed by the project group e.g. on the concrete shielding and the outer wall of COSY. The rails for moving around D2 into and out of its position with the detection system have been installed. Thanks to all the people who helped us to get this job done! The power supply for dipole D2 has been delivered and is currently being tested by H.Scheider and his colleagues from the accelerator group. The design of the platform for the detection system has been finished. We plan to have the platform ready end of July/beginning of August. A first telescope for K+ detection has been mounted and is currently being tested in the IKP together with our colleagues from Rossendorf. There is a new ZDF-Memo 'SIM/170696/1' written by colleagues from Dubna, Rossendorf and Tbilisi on 'Simulation of Deuteron Break-Up at Tp = 2.5 GeV'. The postscript files are available as usual on our ANKE server; the abstract can also be found in the 'LIST_OF_ZDF_MEMOS'. Ruediger Koch told me that the first RAL 170 chips have been delivered to Rossendorf and that they are currently being tested by our colleagues. You'll be informed about first results in the next ANKE news. As you might already know there is some delay with the manufacturing of the three magnets D1/3 and D2. We now expect that D1/3 will be delivered to KFA in the end of August and D2 in the beginning of October. The following tests and field measurements as well as the mounting of the vacuum system can then be finished until April '97. The current time scedule foresees the final installation of ANKE (magnets and side-detection system) at TPA in May '97. The first (callibration) measurements will in detail be planned during the next weeks together with V.Koptev and C.Wilkins. I have worked out rather detailed time scedules for the project group (installation of ANKE) as well as for the detection systems. They can be obtained - as ps-files in German language - on request from me. Best regards, Markus Buescher
