These are in brief: ANKE: - forward spectrometer with acceptance for charged particles around zero degrees, i.e. for reactions very close to threshold: - excellent charged Kaon i.d.; - different targets (foil, cluster, polarized) can be used. WASA: - large acceptance for charged and neutral particles with good particle i.d.; - high luminosity with pellet target; In combination, these properties would allow new reactions to be studied at COSY (in the years ~2015 - 20xx). To further develop this idea we should first define a solid physics point. Our discussions are in a very preliminary stage. With this mail we ask you to think a little (more) about the above mentioned issues and, as a first step, provide additional input for the physics case. Such a big project certainly can only be motivated if we have an excellent physics point. Please also forward this mail to everybody who might be able to contribute good ideas. Please send your contributions and input to me as soon as possible. We want to collect these for the next preparatory meeting (June 8) for the IKP Beirat (October 28/29). A further meeting where the discussions will be continued is foreseen around the COSY-PAC meeting, i.e. June 28/29. Best regards, Andro Kacharava
