Dear colleagues,


let me inform you on the following:

1. Papers:
- a paper - "Determination of target thickness and luminosity from beam energy losses"-
  has been submitted in Phys. Rev. ST-AB (available from our home page).

- we have received positive and encouraging report on our PLB paper - 
  "Energy dependence of forward 1S_0 diproton production in the pp-->(pp)pi0
  reaction", with suggestion for a minor revision before the final acceptance.
  Paper will be resubmitted today. 

  
2. ANKE upgrade:
   For the ANKE forward detection system it is planned to replace the
   proportional chamber (FPC3) by a drift chamber (FDC3). 
   For these plans, Henner Ohm and his colleagues, prepared the document for
   the internal discussion - "Drift chambers for the ANKE forward detector",
   which you can find from our home page under the folder "Internal notes".

   Please, have a look at this note and make your comments/suggestions for 
   the internal meeting planed to have on February 6, 14:00 (at IKP), or send 
   via e-mail your proposal to Henner Ohm and me.
