It was nice to meet so many of you during the collaboration meeting here in the IKP. In the meantime I've written the minutes of the meeting and stored the (LaTeX) file on our www-server (http://ikpd15.ikp.kfa-juelich.de/doc/Anke.html). When you have a look at our www pages you might notice some changes regarding data analysis. During the collaboration meeting we agreed that several groups (Juelich, Rossendorf and Dubna) will begin to prepare the software for the on- and off-line data analysis at ANKE, in particular a track-reconstruction algorithm. In the future I (M.B.) will try to coordinate the activities of these groups. For that purpose I've installed a www page for "Simulation Calculations and Data Analysis" were you might find some useful information. During a discussion with the people working at the external COSY experiment GEM (BIG KARL) it turned out that there are many common interests and that it seems useful to develop common software for data analysis. There is a new document on the www polarized-target sub-page on "Monitor counters of the Hydrogen (Deuterium) atomic flow" written by A.Vassiliev. Anybody who is interested may copy the (postscript) file from our server. The proposal on first measurements at ANKE ("Nucleon-Nucleon Final State Interactions in Single Pion Production") has been approved by the PAC and the committee already recommended 1 week of beam time for the initial work. The PAC suggests that a cluster target will be used instead of a foil target in order to improve background conditions. As you heard during the collaboration meeting the dipoles D1/D3 were not properly manufactured. They will be brought back to the company and repaired there. I'll let you know as soon as they have been fixed. Please let me remind you that if you have any articles which you want to have published in our Annual Report 96 you should send them to me or Kornel Sistemich until December 15. Probably, these ANKE news will be the last ones in 1996. I therefore already now wish you happy Christmas and a successful, healthy new year 1997 (in which we'll - hopefully - install ANKE in the COSY ring)!! Best regards, Markus Buescher
