After the deadline, the ET will take the responsibility to consider all input, prepare the final paper (including the author list) and then give a brief chance for further comments before submission. 2008 certainly was another successful year for the ANKE collaboration: - We have published and submitted a number of papers (around 10). A bunch of additional papers are in the progress ! - David Chiladze (Tbilisi) and Alexey Dzyuba (Gatchina) successfully have finalized work on their PhD thesis, CONGRATULATIONS!; - Marc Westig (Cologne), Paul Goslawski (Muenster), and Susanna Bertelli (Ferrara) successfully completed their Diploma thesis, CONGRATULATIONS!; - We had progress in different frontiers (e.g. ANKE DAQ) and a specially on ANKE/PAX related activities (e.g. depolarization experiment). - Erhard Steffens formally retired in this year. We want to take this opportunity to again thank Erhard Steffens for his contributions to the success of ANKE/PAX and wish him all the best for his new tasks! We hope that he continues to be active for/with us in the future. - Melanie Comuth-Werner is on a leave-of-absence because she gave birth to a boy-child (JONAS) in summer 2008. Best wishes to her and her family! - Our new secretary (who runs the institute as we all know) is Jessica Artz, which everyone has warmly welcomed. As a brief outlook to 2009, we would like to remind you on our upcoming beam-times in February/April, also later in October, and on the date for the next PAC-meeting (7/8 September). - In order to be (as) successful in allocating additional beam-times for 2009/10 (as in the past), very well prepared proposals/BR have to be submitted and new ideas are very welcome. - Also please keep in mind the preparations for the ANKE contributions for the upcoming international conferences: NSTAR'09 (Beijing), FewBody'09 (Bonn), PSTP'09 (Ferrara), EINN'09 (Milos), ... Let us remind you that next year JINR and FZJ will organize the meeting under the title 'ANKE/PAX Workshop on Spin Physics', which will take place in Dubna, Russia, 22-26 June 2009. The next info will be distributed in February when the web site of the workshop becomes available. As it has been already announced, on February 9/10, 2009, we will have a 'Wilkin-Fest' on the occasion of Colin Wilkin's 70-th birthday. The programme of this meeting is available from the ANKE web under the folder 'Events'. Finally, we would like to thank all of you for your efforts, dedication and hard work on hard-, soft-, and 'paper-ware' for ANKE. We wish you and your loved ones a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year ! Andro Kacharava and Hans Stroeher
