ReV. ST-AB "Determination of target thickness and luminosity from beam energy losses" - is available from our home page. --> Please have a look at the paper, and give comments and suggestions for possible changes to improve it even further, checking especially the areas of your special expertise. --> Deadline for replies regarding the above paper is 15-th of January 2008. --> Please, send your comments etc., to the Editorial team and to me. After the deadline, the ET will take the responsibility to consider all input, prepare the final paper (including the author list) and then give a brief chance for further comments before submission. - a paper - "Lineshape of the lambda(1405) hyperon measured through its \Sigma^(o)\pi^(o) decay"- has been resubmitted to PLB on 13-th of December. 2007 certainly was a successful year for the ANKE collaboration: - We have published and submitted a number of papers (around 8). A bunch of additional papers are in the making: "Hartmann", "Chiladze", "Valdau", "Dzyuba", "Mikirtytchiants", "Grigoryev", ... ; - Sergey Dymov, Kirill Grigoryev and Timo Mersmann successfuly completed their PhD thesis, CONGRATULATIONS!; - We had a very successful ANKE/PAX workshop on SPIN physics in Ferrara (May'07); - The new proposals and requested beam-times from the ANKE/PAX collaboration were approved by COSY-PAC in May/November 2007. The ANKE collaboration will "loose" an important person - Irakli Keshelashvili, who "moves on" with the new position at Basel University. We want to take this opportunity to again thank Irakli for his contributions to the success of ANKE and wish him all the best for his new tasks ! As a brief outlook to 2008, we would like to remind you on our upcoming beamtimes in February/March and on the date for the next PAC-meeting (26/27 May). - In order to be (as) successful in allocating additional beamtimes for 2008 (as in the past), very well prepared proposals/BR have to be submitted. - Also please keep in mind the preparations for the ANKE contributions for the upcoming international conferences: MESON'08 (Poland), STORI'08 (China), and SPIN'08 (USA). As usual the yearly Annual Report of IKP is just around the corner - so please be prepared with your contribution ! Finally, we would like to thank all of you for your efforts, dedication and hard work on hard-, soft-, and "paper-ware" for ANKE. Best wishes to you and your family members for 2008 ! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ! Andro Kacharava and Hans Stroeher
